Finished with Grad School and New Job!
I recently finished my final paper and presentation for my Master's program in Library Science. Next, I will officially graduate on Dec. 18th in front of all my adoring fans (Chris, Mom, Dad, Kathleen- that's you).
In a wonderful coincidence I will graduate and start a new job all int the same week! On Dec. 15th I begin my new job as an Assistant Circulation Services Suprevisor for the new Robert Trail Library in Rosemount MN which officially opens Feb. 9th. This position is part of the Dakota Co. Library System.
So many changes!
Can't wait to see what the new year brings.

A quarter of a century...

I celebrated my 25th birthday on Oct. 4th. Probably the most shocking thing that happened was hearing about the 1/4 life crisis that some of my friends have gone through as they also are turning 25. I guess this simply means that I have a lot to be thankful for, mostly my stable (aka boring?) life! I have a job, a house, a husband, a cute puppy and wonderful extended family and of course friends.
My thanks to my family, friends and wonderful hubby Chris for always taking the time to make me feel loved and special!
Here's to another year!

Congrats to all our cousins and new cousins-in-law!

Back to School(s)
Summer wrap-up: we went to KC with our friends Dave and Melissa to watch two Twins games, and while there we ate BBQ food and toured the Negro League Baseball Museum all within two days! It was a lot of driving- leaving at 6:30 am Sat. and returning at midnight Sunday!
Stuff to look forward to: Allison's wedding (my cousin) and the upcoming Wayne family cruise to the Caribbean over Thanksgiving.
Maybe this blog will be a little more interesting as my year becomes a little more hectic! Haha.

Done with summer school!
In other news, Chris has started umping slow pitch softball games three days a week. (So we still aren't home at the same time very much!) And, we've re-joined a gym and are starting to get back into shape again. It feels good though, plus we get to take our puppy on nice long walks around our neighborhood and the park next to our house.
Oh the joys of summer!

Chris turns 25!
So, guess what we are doing tonight for his birthday? That's right going to the Twins game. But, it gets even better- we have the bank tickets which are about 8 or 9 rows up, right behind homeplate and a little of towards to thrid base side. Marvelous!

Long time, no updates!
We were happy to celebrate Easter with the Pladson/Lowe/Falconer side of our family.
We went to the Twins home opener on one of the snowiest days this year- luckily they won.
Christy is finishing up the end of spring semester, will greatly enjoy a two week break and then hit the books again with 5 days of class per week for 7 weeks.
On the bright side, we are looking forward to warm weather and planting our garden... Along with a grand project of re-doing our roof with a little help from our fathers!
That is pretty much it for now... stay tuned for construction updates and some pictures!

A Hipper Crowd of Shushers
A Hipper Crowd of Shushers
Now really, after reading this article who can criticize the "Secret Masters of the Universe" aka Librarians?
"Librarians are the secret masters of the universe. They control information. Never tick one off." --Spider Robinson
That's right, otherwise you'll be in trouble and your library accounts will amass huge amounts of fines for those overdue books and dvds, not to mention your interlibrary loan privileges will be revoked!
Hahaha...

Celebrating Lynette's Teacher of Excellence Award!
Check out this website to learn more about Lynette's career and award: http://www.neafoundation.org/gala.htm

Article from Pioneer Press:
A Hastings teacher received a prestigious National Education Association award this week, becoming the first Minnesota educator to receive the honor.
Lynette Wayne, a teacher at Christa McAuliffe Elementary in Hastings, was named the winner of the NEA Member Benefits Award for Teaching Excellence on Friday night in Washington, D.C. She was chosen from five finalists.
Wayne, who teaches first grade, is the first Minnesota teacher to win the Teaching Excellence award.
"I'm really proud to represent Minnesota," she said Saturday. "I think Minnesota has many outstanding teachers, so I hope this is just the first time we have Minnesota represented."
The award is given annually to one teacher who "personifies and exemplifies outstanding and creative instructional expertise," according to an NEA news release.

Maddy... the growing puppy!
In other Maddy News:
She has discovered that she can climb the stairs in our house, adding extra time for her to find a good hiding spot before we catch up with her. This usually involves Maddy sitting on top of the heat vent in the kitchen. Also, the puppy training continues for now. At least it is a little warmer outside- otherwise, we have one cold little pup!

My first pet!
She is very playful, but also loves to chew on my hair! What a goofy little pup!

We also had the chance to host our first family holiday dinner for Christy's side of the family! It was great to be able to see my Aunt Pat and cousins Katie and Nate from Montana. The only people missing were Alex, Erica and the newest addition to the family Elsie who sadly had to go to a funeral for Erica's grandmother.
We were able to make two delicious turkeys and all kinds of side dishes with a little help from my mom and aunts! The only disaster was having the garbage disposal break down which resulted in a visit from the plumber the next day who also discovered a leaky pipe behind the wall... oh well such is life- better to fix it now than have a flood in the basement later!
Here are just a few pictures from this Christmas!
The Lowe Family Christmas at Chris and Christy's!
oops, the blog won't allow me to add pictures right now... check back later!
